Special Waste consist of many things including the DOT’s unacceptable items and the special handling of the below items:

Paint Cans, Tires, Batteries

White Metal appliances, Televisions, Microwaves

Florescent Bulbs, Ballast, Electronics

Computers, Lead base painted items, Railroad ties

Creosote coated materials, Telephone poles, Power poles

Household “kitchen” items, Liquid insecticides, Paint thinners

All Asbestos material such as:

Tile siding, roofing material (tar), flooring etc. 

Special Waste can be hauled and disposed of, but it requires a special permit and can only be disposed at special waste landfills.  This debris has to be hauled separate from all other debris.
